Album informationThis recording specializes in Robin’s extra contemporary output. (2012–2020).
The title of the first part, Gash Circles (2012), refers to the person-made, symmetrical, geometric shapes learned in reduce fields. The sluggish introduction exhibits two motifs: the first in accordance with a symmetrical mode with a swirling melody, symbolising the geometrical designs of the Gash Circles in quiz: the 2nd introduces the human part into this semi-natural, semi-artificial world. In the Allegro, ‘the initial swirling turns into a whirlwind’ (J.-B. Robin), then within the sluggish central fragment the 2nd theme looks on the solo violin, evoking man on the centre of nature (the watch of the storm or the centre of the circle…). #Tictac (2019) turned into a commission from the Versailles Spacious-Parc communauté de communes. This sonatina in 5 actions varies the tempi, rhythms and melodies, nonetheless is basically basically based all over on the unrelenting circulation of a pendulum. The gap tick-tock introduces the dominant motif, starting the formula of metamorphosis which develops everywhere in the actions.
Following the instance of Gash Circles, Zénith (2020) brings together man and passing time by means of two juxtaposing or overlaying issues. A first fragment introduces the pizzicato tick-tock of time, then later the human theme looks alone and rises to an intense lyricism. A short coda on the tick-tock: the wrestle between man and time inevitably ends within the latter’s victory.
The theme of passing time is positioned in a nocturnal surroundings within the three Poèmes de l’aube et de la nuit (Poems of the Morning time and the Evening), whereby the unfolding of the night is ever perceived extra slowly than the day. As such, there don’t seem to be any snappy actions in these three poems, nonetheless as a replacement alternating recitative sections and lyrical passages. The A-B-A’ construction of the 2 first poems offers formula to a by means of- quiet construction within the third, which ends the part with a piano postlude. Commissioned in 2014, Trois Nuits contains three actions and can pay tribute to French composer Dutilleux. From the choreographic first circulation to the habitual lament-like theme, the final lift of tempo leads the work to its infernal conclusion.
