[에릭 벌리슨 / 미 연방 하원의원 : 2024년 10월 30일에 촬영된 영상입니다. MQ-9 드론이 예멘 해안가 근처 상공을 날고 있는 한 물체를 추적하며 촬영한 건데요, 화면에 잡히지 않은 또 다른 MQ-9 드론이 이 물체를 향해 헬파이어 미사일을 발사했습니다. 더 설명하지 않겠습니다. 영상으로 보시죠.]

미사일이 물체에 정확하게 충돌하는 순간, 이 물체는 폭발하지 않고 도리어 미사일을 튕겨냅니다.

미사일을 맞은 후에도 나아가던 경로를 유지하며 계속 비행하는데, 놀라운 점은 미사일 공격으로 생겨난 파편들이 떨어져 나가지 않고 본체와 함께 날아가는 모습이 포착됐다는 겁니다.

당시 예멘 연안은 후티 반군의 상선 공격에 대응해 미 해군 함정과 항공기가 항행 보호 작전을 수행하던 실전 지역이었습니다.

영상을 공개한 벌리슨 의원은 신원을 밝힐 수 없는 한 미군 내부 고발자를 통해 이 영상을 확보했다고 전했습니다.

미확인 비행물체(UFO)를 군에서는 미확인 비행현상(UAP)이라고 주로 표현하는데, 벌리슨 의원은 UAP와 관련한 정보를 투명하게 공개할 것을 정부에 촉구하기 위해 이 영상을 공개하기로 결정했다고 밝혔습니다.

목격자로 나선 한 전역 군인은 더 이상 이런 현상을 숨기거나 외면해선 안 된다고 말했습니다.

위원회에 참석한 안나 폴리나 루나 연방 하원의원도 국민들에게 UFO의 존재를 정확히 알릴 때라고 강조했습니다.

[안나 폴리나 루나 / 미 연방 하원의원 : 최고 수준으로 훈련된 전문가들이 침묵한다면 우리 영공은 지켜질 수 없습니다. 질문하지 않는다면 과학은 발전할 수 없고, 국민들을 암흑 속에 가둔다면 정부에 대한 신뢰가 유지될 수 없을 겁니다.]

청문회에 참석한 증인들은 영상을 보며 두려움을 느꼈다고 증언했습니다.
